These clips below are taken from 'It's a Got To', produced by the Engine Room, Somerset, are an example of some of our early drama facilitation. Film producer, Justin Owen, who directed the project was an inspiration to our later projects. Both samples were edited by Justin and our editor Jesse Lawrence. CJS Projects to date

The Net.
A group of looked after young adults 16-18 work with police to produce a film drama about gun crime.

Right Track. BME young people and the law. Children’s Society project based in St Paul’s Bristol.

Lightworks Project. Children on Hillrise estate, Chippenham, explore safer communities fears and anxieties and express their concerns. The project leads to positive developments between the town’s youngsters who have received ASBO status and the local police and council officials.


Inside Out.

Life sentence prisoners use psychodrama to share their insights with young people at risk of offending. Family members contribute to the film to add the message that it is not just the prisoner who serves the sentence.

A Decent Job
Bristol prison staff and prisoners produce a training resource to promote the agenda of Decency. International psychologist Philip Zimbardo and BBC support the development of the film which involves all grades at the prison. The finished film is now being rolled out to all HMP Bristol staff by staff.

Welcome to Portland
4 young prisoners of diverse backgrounds, including a traveller and a behaved Egyptian prisoner try to lead a young depressed Muslim, Reed to take an active part in the prison. The work is an authentic and powerful message to other young prisoners at Portland.

Eastwood Park Healthier Prisons project.
5 films about shared understanding for and by prisoners.
This project won runner up for the Princes foundation judge’s special prize.

A Natural High . How to feel good using natural endorphins instead of drugs) Using resources and choices in the prison to promote healthier lifestyle.

Listening. Understanding Mental Health and living with people who self harm or hear voices.

Self Belief . Self esteem and how education and self care can begin to change self image.

Taking Time
Using prison as a breathing space to reconsider returning home to violent or abusive relationships. Singposting to services within the prison.
